Hi! I need to clean my carpets amd was wondering if anyone had any preference between at home carpet cleaning compared to a professional.

The VAX advert says it does a better jib than a professional. What do you all think!?

Professional means you don’t have to store it yourself and you don’t have to do the hard work yourself.

DM had her own but it mostly just sat gathering dust. How often would you actually feel the need to use it? If you bought one you would probably find people asking to borrow it meaning wear and tear on your machine.

I have the vax platinum cleaner and it's great. Brought my carpets up really well, I like it. I can't compare against a professional company as I have never used one.

I had mine cleaned professionally and they were ruined. At first they looked amazing, but over time they developed spots and nothing would clean them.
The cleaning product they use works by sucking dirt in and trapping it, so if they miss any bits you end up with these little spots here and there.
Mine were cream carpets so a scattering of grey and black spots wasn’t a good look. It took me ages to realise that it was the cleaning process that had caused it and not some weird mould/ my inept cleaning.

My df used a steam cleaner that she got in Lidl or Aldi on her patterned carpets and they faded.

So my, unhelpful, recommendation is to save your money and put it towards wooden floors instead.
