Eco washing machine driving me nuts

Remember reading good advice on here a few weeks ago about choosing a speed perfect rather than 3 hour eco wash. I've done that but still everything is coming out looking like it's been screwed up in a ball. I used to just put everything on 30 degrees 50 min wash in my old machine. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I know you're not washing machine engineers!

What machine is it?

Are you over loading it? Speed washes are typically for half a load, not a full load.

It's a bosch. Might be overloading it. It's a full load..

I use the cotton setting on my Bosch- most of the time I press the speed button so it’s only 1.5 hours. Full load comes out fine, I think it just uses more energy. If in a big rush the easy care speed option is only 47 mins.

In my experience (and I do currently have a Bosch), you absolutely cannot load it up to anywhere near “full”.

I run mine about one third full, using a 59 minute cycle.

Other tricks to try:

press the button that puts extra water into the wash.
Put the detergent directly into the drum, near the bottom of the drum, not on top of a large pile of clothes

It’s all very good to be “eco” but so many eco products have not been properly thought through or needs to be used in a way which negates their eco-ness.

Exactly! Wish I'd known. Ggrrr

I find the 1400 spin may help clothes be less wet at the end, but it's too violent for most clothes and I get wee holes and a bit wodge of items.

If I put the spin back on 1200 it's better. The 1 hour mixed load, eco perfect adds 8 min, works well.

Topseyt · 21/05/2021 10:47

Maybe you are using too high a spin speed. I always reduce it to 800rpm.

That still gets the water out but there is barely any creasing and much less wear and tear on the machine and clothes.
