What is this stuff that comes out of my washing machine? (Pic)

For about a year on and off I've found bits of this grey stuff that comes out of my washing machine with the clean clothes. It looks textured like fabric but it's actually sort of plasticky feeling. The machine seems to be working fine and not leaking. Any ideas what it is and where it's coming from?

Have you got any clothes with applique patterns on the front? Sometimes s they have a plasticky backing on the inside of the clothes that gradually disintegrates as you wash them.

Sounds like people don't think it's parts of my machine coming out thought, so that's good I guess!
