I may be being a bit crap - but how do you attach black-out linings onto curtains?

I have a pair of beautiful white curtains for dd's room - they are lovely, but about as much use as a chocolate teapot for keeping the sun out ... I have been and bought some black-out linings today, but I can't work out how to attach them ... they have header tape on them like the other curtains - do I need special hooks or something?

No use the hooks on the current curtains. You will have to take the curtains off. Pleat up the black out curtains to same aize as curtains. UUse the hooks to hook them together. Then hook curtains (with black outs already attached) back up onto pole/track.

So do I hook them together face-to-face?

Yes you do! It is fiddly, lie the curtain on the floor so that the header tape is facing you, then place the black out lining ontop of the curtain so that is header tape is now inside between the two curtains.

Fold the top of the black out lining down so you can see the header tape. (now I am doing this from memory so hopefully this is right) you hook the curtain hook down through the black out lining, the hook it up through the curtain and then complete the hooking arkwardly by hooking it over the top of the blackout lining.

I am sure you can see the hook when you look at the back of my curtains. You can only see the vertical line of the hook not the whole thing.

I really hope this is right.

We use plastic coloured clothes pegs. Classy.

god, i remember staring at mine for about an hour, I just couldn't work it out, i had a total mental block.
