Bathroom tile grout mould problem? Try this!

I don't think I've ever felt the need to rave about a cleaning product, but this stuff is absolutely amazing! I keep going in the bathroom to look at the beautifully clean tile grout. To think we thought that we were going to have to spend £££ on re- grouting. Some elbow grease and a few goes with this and it's like new. I wish I'd taken before and after pictures. Seriously good stuff. I'm going to buy a few bottles in case it disappears.

Where did you purchase it? I don't recognise the brand, was it Homebase or similar.

The Kilrock oven cleaner is also good. It also doesn't smell.

Does the mould cleaner smell?

@C0nn1e I got mine from Amazon but lots of other places sell it. I think I paid a bit over the odds for my bottle as I've seen it cheaper from elsewhere online. It does seem like the kind of thing you'd get in B&M (pretty sure that's where the BIL who recommended it got his) but I didn't want to trek in to town to find they don't have it

@aiwblam it does smell strongly of bleach so make sure you open all the windows wide. It's bleach and caustic soda so it's pretty potent stuff and I unfortunately trashed a hoodie because I didn't realise it was splashing back as I was spraying but I honestly don't care as it was so worth it to have a nice looking bathroom again 😂

Will it melt the sealant around the bath?

@HagenDaz nope, it's absolutely fine to use on the sealant around the bath I did ours and it's not harmed it at all

@C0nn1e I know exactly what you mean there 🤣 Get some from Amazon you won't be disappointed. We have a constant battle with keeping the bathroom ventilated due to no extractor and these tiles and grout were stained with that horrible orangey mould and patches of the black stuff, not any more! Took 3 or 4 goes and I left it on for half an hour each time but it blinking works 😄

The Aldi version of this works a treat, too. Not just the mould but sparkly white grouting.

Cillit bang black mould remover is amazing aswell! No scrubbing required. Just spray, leave it on for a bit them rinse off 🙂

The Astonish brand sold in B&M is also excellent for grout mould. I use it every few weeks in the shower as part of my cleaning regime.

I swear by kilrock mould remover but I buy it in a black bottle for £1.99 from home bargains. I'm not sure if it's the same product but it works like magic. Spray it on and leave it, go back 20 mins later and it looks brand new!

Game changer for me was the Black harpic toilet cleaner. Someone suggested using it on the grout, put on with toothbrush, leave a minute or two then rinse off. Works brilliantly. And I didn't have to have another bottle cluttering up the bathroom.

I found all kilrock products amazing, to be honest always do what they say and work every time.

Does it get rid of the black mould on the sealant?

@User27aw I used Kilrock and didn't find it worked in the black mould on the sealant agree with pp it's great stuff but it just didn't work for me on the sealant. I put down some folded kitchen roll and poured bleach on and left it overnight - worked like a charm no black mould at all. Wear gloves and make sure you ventilate as it does stink but it works! Just got to work out how to get some of the bleach "dry" marks off my tiles now 🤣.

Came on here to suggest the black Harpic limescale remover but @stillcrazyafterall beat me to it. Directable down the grout because of its spout too. Use a toothbrush to spread it around if also using it on tiles.

@Flossie44 it's amazing isn't it! I was so sceptical because it felt like I'd tried everything. I'm going to buy my brother-in-law some beers for introducing me to this and saving a lot of money and faff by not having to re-grout.

Any tips for getting the black mould out of the sealant? Other than just replacing it

Soak toilet paper in bleach & push it into the sealant leave overnight, the black mould will have disappeared.
