Cleaning microwave

Haven't used my microwave for months so haven't thought about cleaning it , unbeknown to me teenagers and dh have been using and the roof of microwave is rotten I have just noticed.
Plate and sides not too bad so just washed that with soap and wiped sides with wipe
Wiped roof with disinfectant wipe , soapy water and still can't get it all off
( looks liked dried spaghetti bolognaise or bean sauce )
I have read using lemon juice in water helps soften , I have no lemons but have some jif?
Would this do the same?
And what do I do , any ideas how to shift it all ?
Have already told them all from now on to wipe the roof as well when they have used?

I think your supposed to put the water and juice in a bowl in the microwave and then heat it to cause steam to help soften the burnt on stuff

Don't use jif , tbh if it's not been cleaned in ages another day or so won't do any harm. When your next shopping but a lemon, cut it on half , put it in a just of water a put in microwave, cook it until water is boiling and keeping the door closed, leave it for the condensation to do it's work. Give it a wipe , and redo a few times until it's all sparkly .

Yes I squeeze lemon juice or washing up liquid into a large bowl of water and microwave for 10 minutes and open after a few minutes - the steam usually loosens everything and all it needs is a good wipe.

Lots of typos there, but I think you can get the gist !

You can just use water - put boiling water in a container (leave enough room to allow for boiling).
Boil for a couple of minutes, then let it stand for a while. Open the door, let the steam out and wipe.
You might need a few goes to get it all off if it's bad!

Thanks will give the water a go first as obviously have that and see if I can get the rest off
Got a fair bit off just wiping but not all

Thanks all water worked and a wipe with a old microfibre cloth and all clean and sparkling now
Now will add it To my weekly check list and maybe do a lemon from time to time so it smells nice.

Just started a thread on a similar topic, oops - wanting to know if I should be leaving my microwave to air for any length of time after cleaning with antibac spray (specifically Method) or if its ok to use straightaway?
