Sooty ceiling

Hoping the Mumsnet hive mind can help me.

Have managed to incinerate a wooden spoon on our gas hob, (& ineffective smoke alarms - already sorted).

As a result, spent the weekend cleaning as much as we can (washing up liquid works wonders on sooty deposits -which were up into bedrooms 🤦🏻‍♀️)

But, we still have a sooty kitchen ceiling. We don't need it perfect, plan is that it's all coming out next year hopefully, but quote we've had from specialists post-fire cleaners is eye watering (& seems aimed at a more serious fire).

Any advice welcomed!

I would personally leave it. When you do it up next year replace the gas hob with an induction one. Decent ones heat up faster but only through conductive metals - so you can use wooden and silicon utensils without any fear of them burning or melting
