Washing machine draw, powder all clumpy and not emptying?

I prefer to use powder but we need to use liquid now as the powder or tablets just become one clumpy mess and if doesn’t go down.

I have to chip it out after otherwise I think it’d be there forever!

I have cleaned the draw itself and also the minging roof of it etc. Any tips please?

Just to add that the fab con is fine and goes down no problem (I know that’s a common issue for many)

Ours was doing this. Gave it a good clean of drawer and roof above, plus ran a hot empty wash with white vinegar.

I put the powder straight into the drum. Also means you don’t need to use so much

Put the powder straight in the tub rather than the drawer?

Are you ready for a passive aggressive onslaught of people using the word drawer four times in each sentence to show you the correct spelling? Grin

I mean drum, not tub!

If I use less it sticks less.

Are you using a full wash cycle? Not a daily 30 min wash?
The shorter cycle doesn't run long enough to fully empty the drawer as it's on a shorter time, I use liquid if using a short quick freshen up cycle.
If not then a few rinses through on the 90 wash with a washing machine cleaner should fix it and do this no weekly going forward.

I read somewhere that we use way too much powder. One tablespoon is enough for a full load.
Have you checked the water jets aren't blocked?
I find some powders are worse for this than others. Morrisons own brand non bio is fine. Fairy powder is the worst.

As per pp - run an empty hot wash. I would then make sure the drawer is left open inbetween washes so it can fully dry out.

(I have never thought of putting powder straight into the drum - genius! doesn't take much to impress me )

I find some powders do clump Aldi I'm looking at you but others work fine. When I still had half a box I just put some hot water from the kettle in to rinse it down while it was washing.
Or as pp said, just put the tablets in the drum.

Thanks all. I’ll try using powder in the drum,I didn’t occur to ever do this!
