Should we buy a slightly scratched solid oak table?

Have just seen this gorgeous solid oak table in Laura Ashley reduced to £360.

Problem is, it's the one that's been on display and there are a few scratches on the top.

Now, I've never had proper furniture before so how easy will it be to get rid of the scratches? They seem fairly minor, though you can feel them when you run your fingers across them. Can we make them invisible with something or would we have to get a french polisher round? And how much is that likely to cost?

Thanks you!

OOh but it says online if
you sign up to the E newsletter today you get 25% off all home furnishings why don't you do that and then buy the one online and that would be even cheaper! \linnk{http://www.lauraashley.com/\LOOK}

Aaah, Ledodgy you're lovely. So I checked that out but sadly the discount's only on things that aren't already reduced. To be fair, we could still order one for 50% off the original price - ie the £450 quoted on the website. We'll do that I think. Still very reasonable for a solid oak table as NDP says.

Ahh it's a shame the discount didn't work but i'm glad you've decided to buy the table.

YES! Ours has lots of scratches, all nicely oiled over. A solid oak table needs scratches to give it character!

I'm sure we'll manage to make our own scratches

Ooooh, proper grown up furniture. Sooooo excited.
