Recommend me your Robot hoovers

TwinkleMerrick · 03/04/2021 19:28

I saw a thread on here about being a single mum and a lot of people recommended getting a robot hoover.

There was a link to a Amazon one that would also mop hard floors. It was about £200.

Can you recommend me your robot hoovers? Also any other gadgets that could reduce my weekend chores!!

Thanks Smile

Probably the Eufey

I've the eufy 30c max. It goes home to charge itself automatically and I can programme it to go vacuuming at set times and also turn it on when I'm out via the app.

It's best on hard floors (they all are) but I'm pleasantly surprised how good it is on carpet- it wouldn't replace a normal vac for carpets though imo.

I'm well impressed with it, it's worth the money. I previously had a £50 one from Maplin but the features in eufy make it worth the extra. Mine was in the region of £200 during summer 2020. I checked prices on their website til the one I wanted was on offer.

Mine doesn't wet mop but I really love my roomba - I just got the basic one. It is still going strong 4 years later despite mine and DDs killer long tangly hair.

I got a Eufy 30C Max last summer and am definitely a fan.

I haven't got any experience with any others, but they look much of a muchness at that price point.

Mine has wifi-connectivity so can be controlled (turned on, off, type of clean) and programmed (start time schedule) via the app. It also has the magnetic strips that you can put down to make a boundary - I wasn't too bothered about these, but that model was on offer at the time, and they can come in useful.

Mine is set to go off at 3.30am everyday (I have a dog) and does the lounge, playroom & hall.
I then set it off about 3 times a week in the kitchen & conservatory.
Approx once a week in my bedroom, ensuite, landing & main bathroom.
The teens take it up to their bedrooms periodically.

I empty it every day, either when I get up or just before I go to bed. I also empty it after setting it off in the kitchen or upstairs. With the dog and my hair the brush also needs cleaning apart from when it's been on the kitchen & conservatory as they are hard floors.

I have the Eufy 30C too and it’s an absolute game changer. They’re so quiet but you won’t believe what it’s pulled out of my carpets 😳 (I moved into my house 6 weeks ago and the amount it collects each time is incredible!)

It doesn’t get into corners well and obviously doesn’t do the stairs but I can’t stop recommending them to everyone, they’re just brilliant 😆.

I also brought a iRobot Braava Jet 250 a month or so ago.

After initial reservations, around it basically just pushing a wet cloth around which is why I dithered about it for several months, I am actually very pleased it with.

It needs a bit more in terms of initial set up (floors need to be vacuumed/swept first - I just send the robovac round), liquid & cleaning pad added, placed appropriately etc. But almost nothing at the end (eject pad, put battery back into charger, put in cupboard) compared to emptying the robovac. So that probably evens out.

I can't be bothered mopping the floors (have a steam mop) so they probably got done once a month on average, maybe slightly more in winter and less in summer.

With the robomop I set it off twice a week in the kitchen & conservatory so while it might not be quite as good a clean (I'd change the steam mop pad 3 times in this space whereas the robomop just has the 1 pad) it is getting it a lot more often.

I'll then charge the battery and set it off in the utility (only about 3m x 0.8m floor space) later.

While I'm working at home this is working really well. I do it on Monday and Friday mornings. Not sure what I'll do when we are back but the office. I don't work Fridays so that's okay, but it does need the floor vacuuming first (especially as DP's dog which is here over the weekend moults a lot, and sleeps in the kitchen so can't leave the robovac in there overnight) and I don't know if there will be time for that before I leave. Maybe it will be a case of putting the robovac on as soon as I'm up so it's done by the time I'm ready to leave.

I have two Blush

I have the eufy c30 which I love but she now lives upstairs. I bought a mop eufy too - she was the only reasonable priced robot hoover which can hoover and mop at the same time. It’s not perfect and you do need to mop yourself occasionally but I have a toddler and my dinner room and kitchen need washing every day. I put a couple of drops of zorflora in the water container and then spray kitchen cleaner directly onto any marks.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm deffo going to invest in one next pay day. I live in a small terraced house. Hard floors with a rug in the kitchen and playroom/dining room and carpet in the front room. It's the playroom that is the worst. I like the idea of one that does a mop. I've seen this one on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SPH3FPS/ref=cmswwrwaaapiglcciXJ78NMFD5R4MYGBC3YEP??encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Just adding to the recommendation for eufy 30c max - absolute game changer!

Abraxan · 06/04/2021 13:53

I have an iRobot Roomba that we got 5 years ago. Love it.
I've just done a brushes and filter change and it's like new again.

Ours only vacuums, it doesn't mop.

I would look at how it deals with a rug. When mine is in hoover and mop mode it can recognise a rug and stop mopping.
TwinkleMerrick · 06/04/2021 15:17

@Thatwentbadly can you tell me what make and model you have? I was wondering if they stop moping when they hit a rug.

OP posts:
Thatwentbadly · 06/04/2021 15:19

@TwinkleMerrick that should have said can’t stop at a rug.

pinkcattydude · 06/04/2021 15:27

We have a Coredy r750, I love it, I it copes with the cats although they aren’t so keen. I’ve just got the mopping bit and will be trying it out very soon.

Does anyone know if the eufy 30c would be any good in an open plan kitchen and dining area with an island? I'm worried that it's random cleaning might not cover the whole of a large open plan area?

Mine seems to do my room "groups" quite easily. Lounge (17ft x 11ft), playroom (9ft x 10ft) and hall (long & thin). Kitchen (3.5m x 3.6m), conservatory (about 3m x 3m) & hall (as above). Upstairs with 3/4/5 rooms (depending on which doors are open).

It it very random, but goes for a couple of hours and seems to cover everywhere eventually.

FrenchyQ · 14/04/2021 19:05

We have 2 deebot ones, the older onejust Hoover's and just lives upstairs. We have a newer one that Hoover's and mops downstairs . They are both programmed to clean every other day mid morning. It's nice to come home to clean floors and it smelling nice

mommybear1 · 14/04/2021 19:39

@rachll I have a Eufy 11s and he's programmed to do our open plan kitchen/snug/living area every night at 1am - we have a large kitchen island as well - I love him no more bitty feet 🦶. The Eufy also has an Edge to Edge mode so if I'm up early enough once a week or so I get him to do the edges - he is brilliant 😁.

rachll · 14/04/2021 20:11

Thank you @Chasingsquirrels @FrenchyQ and @mommybear1 - I think you've all given me the push I needed to go ahead and order my robo vac!
