Have I messed up my aged copper backsplash?!

I don't know what I was thinking. I tried a copper polish on THE most obvious part of our aged copper backsplash and it has clearly removed some of the developing patina and looks obviously awful. Will it just repatina (if that's a word!) over time or have I ruined it forever?! Have attached photo of the offending polish and the patch 🙈

Thanks! I'm not brave enough to go at it with some ammonia and salt so at least it seems time will restore it eventually! Hopefully it'll patina a bit before my husband notices 🤪
