Storing Dressing up clothes - tips?

FieryGlassSlipper · 07/11/2007 16:25

We have a big pop-up storage thing and everything goes in it. Therefore hats, wands, fairy costumes, necklaces, eye patches, pumpkins and who knows what else ends up all over the floor when Dd is playing dress up.

Tips on how to filter the mess appreciated.

I have a rail on the ceiling which is on a pulley & lowers down to play with & up high when we aren't playing - with outfits on hangers (plus a suitcase full of bits)

But then I have a playroom and 9 children

I made a simple peg rail from a bit of wood (old bit of skirting board) and some wooden cupboard knobs. Painted the whole thing pink. Hung outfits on hangers. Placed a wicker basket below this rail to hold hats/shoes/accesories.
This is in dd's room, works a treat and when she is bigger she can store her bags etc on there!

we have stacker boxes on shelves in DS's room, as toy storage. they are 4 & 7 and have tons of dressing up gear, one box-full each and another shared one with the 'accesories' (!) like hats and firemen's extinguishers etc. they sort the stuff out themselves, and regularly appear dressed as spacemen or firemen, at the most, erm, interesting of moments

Our dressing up lothes are on a cheap rail from Argos. Hats, shoes and other extras are in a box next to the rail. Seems to work well.

We have two boxes - clothes and accessories. Works fine.
