Ok i have spotted a GEORGOUS tree decoration pack in argos, the baubles etc are in brown and gold, now im a bit of a sucker for colour coordinating, so these decs would go a treat in my newely decorated front room, BUT my mum has told me that it wouldnt look christmasy and has helpfully reminded me that when iw as young i used to insist on decorating the tree and the house like a grotto anyway, she reckons its not fair on the kids to have a brown and gold tree... what do u all think??

christmas trees have to be mix and match, homemade decs by the kids, etc
I'm not into coordinating a tree to the decor of the room!

but you go for it -

am with hana - my DDs will bring home all manner of unco-ordinated stuff they make in school anyway and insist they go on the tree - so red, green and gold in this house.

How old are you DC?

I dropped myself into a lot of trouble with the mother of 2 of my God Children. She was rushed into hospital just befor christmas one year and asked me if I would look after the kids. With the previso that "You WILL DO christmas wont you?"

Well I did, I waited for the kids to go to bed and totaly alseep xmas eve, and Iput the tree up decorated the house etc, so on christmas morning they woke up to winter wonderland.

I have never heard the end of it, as she has had to do it for tha last 3 years!!!

Kids love christmas they wont care what colour the decs are aslong as there is a tree and pressies.

How about getting a second smaller tree for them to decorate if they complain?

MamaG · 07/11/2007 13:36

what the heck has it got to do with yoru bloody mother?!

Mine is usually co-ordinated, with bits and pieces from the DC added on.

I've bought a gold glitter stiletto decoration this year

Well I thought it was a pretty good idea. There mum has forgivem me eventually!

Seriously get the tree you like, the kids will love it, you could start a small tree for your kids to decorate. Maybe in another room?

Just ignor your mother! Sure she is trying to help really but just has boundary issues!!!

loopylou6 · 07/11/2007 14:15

will do, thanks stary
