Arrrggghh! Carpet Beetle

Any tips and advice very welcome. I have clearly spent too much time waging war on moths, the carpet beetles have got the upper hand. Presumably they are immune to all the stuff that exterminates moths.

Angry

You need to find the source of damp or rotten wood. I've had this problem in my living room and the source was a damp porth with rotten wood under the door. Landlord finally sorted after 3years of complaints.

I thought it wasn’t warm enough for them to be visible yet?!

Carpetbeetles/woodlouse cant survive otherwise....the little buggers in my house attracted a happy little, well fed crew of spiders so I didnt like that either

Do you live in the countryside or an old house? If so you will probably be fighting a losing battle. We are in the process of replacing all our lovely wool carpets with synthetic ones Sad as we can’t get rid of the carpet beetle. They are so tiny and can fly in through windows or tiny cracks. Our carpet people said to go synthetic even though I really wanted wool.

DD took a photo of the one that she spotted on the bath mat today. She had disposed of it, but the photo is clear. There is evidence of munched carpet, but I blamed moths. I have been hoovering and spraying, but I guess moth spray doesn't kill carpet beetles. We have had the heating on from time to time, maybe that is encouraging them.

Yes. Very old house and backing onto woodland. Sad

If you'd only seen one, I wouldn't worry. I see a few every year in my house, never progressed further than that. I've never seen any damage from them.

I got rid of a moth infestation some years back. I'm sure the spray I used was good for carpet beetles too.
