White sheets?!

I would love hotel style white sheets on our beds like the white company have! Is it going to be a waste of money as they’ll never really look clean after day one? How do you stop them yellowing etc?

They don’t really go yellow that I’ve noticed. Soak or hot wash, and change them at least every two weeks in winter - every week in summer if necessary Grin

I sling a scoop of stain remover in with mine & they always stay lovely & white. A spell on the line in the sun helps too.

bungleZippy12 · 12/03/2021 13:30

Yeah mine are still white after years. Regular washing with non bio powder and line drying where possible helps.

lulubooboo · 12/03/2021 13:39

That’s good to know! Thanks all...will start shopping 😊

I use astonish laundry bleach on mine and more powder than usual, then press the extra rinse cycle.

Never had a problem with mine. Get decent JL ones in the sale each year and rotate out the oldest set. Generally get 4-5 years out of them before chucking them out, changing weekly with about 4 sets in the rotation.

I have white linen from here www.outofeden.co.uk/ so lovely and crisp and white. I wash at 60 with a scoop of soda crystals.

Wizz oxi whitener from B&M/Home bargains! It’s amazing

AlwaysLatte · 13/03/2021 16:22

Some of my sheets (Egyptian cotton) are 10 years old and are still white! I wash them with other white sheets, not with other colours, on 60 and they're fine.

AlwaysLatte · 13/03/2021 16:22

Also wash once a week at least

crayolacom · 13/03/2021 16:22

I use vanish for whites and they don't go yellow

FeckTheMagicDragon · 13/03/2021 16:25

White vinegar here, I swapped to white sheets after getting fed up of trying to keep them all matched with coloured duvets.

LadyCounterblast · 13/03/2021 16:30

I've got White Company sheets, they're about five or six years old now and still pure white.

I just use Ariel bio powder and I wash them at 60 (the label says 40, and I initially did that, but gradually increased the temperature as I don't like washing bedding that low.)

I don't use extra bleaches or anything like that, I tend to assume the powder has all that in it anyway.

Hairbrush123 · 15/03/2021 22:35

I bought mine from John Lewis a few months ago and wash at least once a week and they’re still amazingly white! Just use Persil and that’s it!

lulubooboo · 19/03/2021 23:01

New sheets came today! Just spent an hour ironing them 🙄 however, they look and feel amazing!

Enjoy! I use white bedlinen and wash with Dr. Beckhams. Also bit of Vanish white. I don't wash with anything else pure wh
ites only.

Ninkanink · 19/03/2021 23:08

We change our bedding weekly, more often in summer if needed.

Whites are washed on their own, and with whitener if necessary (which it usually isn’t).

Wash at 60.

Our white sheets are years old and still perfect. We have one which we bought in BHS years ago which is SO SOFT. I wish I knew what it was that makes it so extra soft (it wasn’t hugely expensive) so I could buy some more!
