Help, me, Oh wise people of Mumsnet!

How do I clean this oven dish? I've tried soaking it in hot soapy water and scrubbing, but no joy.

Any ideas welcome, even mad ones if they work! I have arthritis in my wrists so the least elbow grease option the better.

I await your wisdom.

£1 oven cleaner from Poundland or Savers. It's the one with the solution where you put the oven trays in the bag and leave to soak overnight. I did this with oven trays instead and it worked a treat.

Ah I need help, helping here Grin. Where I am, we have attached, it's called brown soap or crystal soap and is not liquid. If you can get hold of that you simply put it on the dish, put it in a plastic bag and leave 24 hours, that's it. It's great for oven racks (and ovens) too.

But do you have similar in uk and if so please tell me what it's called?Smile.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I particularly like the 'It's supposed to look like that' one!

None of mine look like this. I wouldn't try , just bin and start over.

I live in a hard water area but I don't have this problem. After you've baked a dish and served the food and the meal is over, transfer any leftovers into a storage container and get your cookware into the dishwasher. Never refrigerate and reheat in the same pan or it will get progressively harder to clean until, in my opinion, it's beyond remedy.

If it's ceramic use a gel oven cleaner. Oven mate or similar. dab it on with the brush, wear gloves, leave for an hour, wipe off with disposable cloth or kitchen roll.

Biological washing powder to soak, Pink Stuff to scrub. Or buy a new one?

What is it made of?

I have a 20 year old Mermaid roasting tin, the sides are corners look like that. Doesn't affect the cooking ability.

Just a simple Brillo pad

As an owner of arthritic joints too, Pink Stuff and a Sonic Scrubber with the 'hard' head on - it does the work for you.
