why is my dishwasher not washing properly?

can anyone give me some things to check?

filter
and spray arms seem to be working

has your tablet been released correctly?
has there been anything obstructing the spray arm?

well tablet has gone so presume it dispersed ok.
have checked the arms and they're fine.

Have you cleaned all the shit out of the filter at the bottom and run it through on an empty load

is it new? or just stopped working suddenly? after threads on here i switched to powder as it is better and cheaper than tablets.

haven't run an empty load ,will now need to take out dishes with hardened crusted on shit and put them in soak

We have crappy dishwasher at the moment and every few months it stops washing properly. I found that using a dishwasher cleaner like the one on here sorts it out and gets it back on track for a few more months.

Our previous (Bosch and Zug - a Swiss brand of the sort of Miele level) never had this problem and I never needed to use the dishwasher cleaner so I presume this is a feature of the crappy ones.

I have never had problems with tablets before though

I suggested them because thats what usually buggers my washes up.

Maybe check your filter again like TR said. It might be kicking up some crap.

I did use a cleaner a few weeks ago

oh and has it got enough salt? mine stops washing well if the water is too hard to dissolve the soap properly.

thanks for all your replies,there was a broken wine glass stuck in the filter that I couldn't see for looking!
