Staub cast iron cookware

I have some ALDI knock off Le Creueset pans that I love, but after ten years they're starting to show their age.

They have a curved base, like a wok, which I prefer. I've owned the cylindrical style, but passed them on as I didn't like them as much.

I really like some Staub ones I saw online, especially the pumpkin one, a bouillabaisse one, and one with a rooster on the lid. I think around 3-5l would do my family of 5 and would consider purchasing two. I own a raw cast iron grill pan and skillet so I don't mind seasoning between uses.

Does anyone have these pots, or have an opinion on staub cookware generally, or recommend anything else that might fit the bill. Nowhere near me stocks them so I'd be buying blind online.

No replies so far so I will put in my 2p worth. I wouldn't normally reply on the basis of such limited knowledge!

I've never tried them but I have seen them in Borough Kitchen and think they look amazing. I prefer stainless steel as it can go in the dishwasher and enamel ones are heavy - especially when they are full - but I personally don't see why Le Creuset is so much better known.

Thank you Nettie. That store as equallu good prices and a better range than where I was looking. Weight is an issue, I have no idea who buys those 8l Le Creueset pots. Probably footballers and body builders. I guess I'll just take the plunge and buy one. My son likes the look of the pumpkin one.

We bought a Dutch oven from the Staub factory shop in the Alsace a couple of years ago. Wasn’t something we had planned but proved to be a fantastic impulse purchase - we’ve used it loads and I think it’s better made than the le creuset stuff we’ve got. Very heavy though - don’t drop them on your toe.

I haven't got any but they are much loved by lots of keen cooks on a cooking group I'm on.

Sainsbury's cast iron range also gets a lot of love if you want something more affordable.

I have a cast iron Denby shallow casserole that has had almost daily use for 10 years and is still in excellent nick. I don't really use anything else apart from the odd saucepan.

I have Staub cookware and I love it. I bought white and everything cooks well in them and they are so easy to clean. I bought it from Selfridges in their sale.

Thank you all for your replies. I've chosen an oval pan in La Mer colour, and will splash out on more if I like it.

I have my pot now and I luffs it.

It looks so cute on the table and cooks beautifully.

Tonight's effort is cod cakes in spicy tomato sauce. I've also knocked out ratatouille, risotto and shakshuka.

Thank you all for your advice. Now I need to figure out how to pay for a whole set.
