Hi, I'm having a cleaner round this week to do a spring clean, it's the first time I've used one. Do I need to move everything out the way i.e stuff on windowsills, shoes on floors etc.

Just tidy as much as you can and make sure sinks are clear, there's no dirty crockery on the side, and no poo in the loo.

I just clear as many surfaces as I can. I don't want to be paying the cleaner to shift my mess around and it's good for me as it forces me to tidy up. However things that are meant to be out like pictures in frames, plant pots and candles stay where they are and she moves them to clean those areas.

I make sure clothes/shoes etc in the bedrooms are where they should be except DH's bedside floordrode which I shove on the top shelf of the cupboard. He fishes it all back out after she's gone and rearranges it in his preferred layout on the floor.

I really depends what you mean by stuff.

A couple of pairs of shoes no. A pile of them yes. An ornament or candle on the window sill, no, piles of crap yes.
