Brabantia rotary washing line not fitting correctly anymore

We have a 45mm brabantia rotary line top spinner. We’ve just got it back out the garage to use now the weather is better, but the pole doesn’t seem to fit properly anymore.

The ground spike is the same level with the top of the soil/grass as it’s always been. When I put the pole into the ground spike it seems to slip too far.

I’ve removed the ground spike and hosed it down and wondered if it had become a little stretched so have managed to tighten it but it still doesn’t fit.

Any advice appreciated as I can’t seem to find anything similar online and don’t want to just buy a new ground spike.

As I love talking to myself at home too I thought I’d update this for anyone who finds a similar problem. There is a plastic insert that goes inside the metal ground spike which had obviously gone missing or degraded. I sent pics to brabantia and they sent us a brand new spike free of charge.

Talking to yourself comment made me laugh, but I love that you made this update. I had no clue how to solve the problem but feel this could come in useful in the future so thanks!

Love my brabantia whirly gig!

I talk to myself all the time too - three boys, no one listens. Good job on fixing it Smile

I made a post about a washing-related issue once OP, and no-one answered - not even me.
And look - there's now a steady smallstream of interest! Well done for solving the Brabantia.

Haha finally adults who get me 😂

I have a husband and two boys so highly outnumbered and was adamant to husband that something was missing.....

Brabantia were so good at helping; all via fb messenger. I love the line too (totally unashamed by this) and we have a kitchen bin which is also great.

When feeding my 7mo I’m making a point of replying to my no one gives a s”I” mumsnet posts. It may take some time......
