How to clean George Foreman grill?!

I normally wipe it clean straight after use and can easily get it completely clean. Today I didn’t have time to wipe it straight after use, so wiped it a few hours later, by which time the melted mozzarella had dried onto it. I’ve wiped it lots of times with hot water and washing up liquid, and left the water and walking up liquid on it for a while, but it’s still not totally clean. Any ideas for how to clean it without damaging the non-stick surface?!

Turn it on, let it get hot then wipe it with kitchen roll.

Ah, do you think turning it on will melt the mozzarella rather than making it stick on even more?!

I was thinking I needed to get it clean before turning it on, but maybe it’s the other way round!

Dunno, it might burn and catch fire and then you'd get to meet some firefighters.

I always turn mine on again if it hasn't been cleaned immediately (glaring at you DH).
Turn it on for a minute then it will wipe off easily with a wet cloth or kitchen towel. Just be careful though as the heat can go through the cloth quickly. I have it folded over a few times.

Put a wet/damp cloth in and close it and leave it for a while, it’ll easily wipe clean after that, no scrubbing needed!

I use tinfoil top and bottom. It saves cleaning the plates.

Mine has removable plates which I bung in the dishwasher.

Mine came with a little plastic tool for this purpose. Mind you, it is ancient so maybe they don’t do that anymore
