How do I read this gas meter?

I've just moved into a new house. My gas meter has no numbers showing on the display, does anyone have any idea how to read it? Picture attached.

Do you think it might be a smart meter?

Looks like a smart meter. If you press the A button it should light up with your reading.

Found this online:

If your meter is an EDMI GS-60B the screen will be blank. To display the reading press the right hand of the two grey buttons. It may be necessary to hold the button down for a few seconds. The display is maintained for 3 seconds. To display the reading again press the button again.

@dementedpixie I have no idea! My electricity meter has numbers though ...

I've looked at so many types of meter online and all of them seem to have a button you press so that you get a display ...

Confirmation that it's the right hand button you press

@FallenSky thank you - I was confused as when I googled I found references to button A. Will go and press the up arrow!

I'm back from the under stairs cupboard. Sadly pressing that button did nothing.

Even pressing and holding the button?

Can a neighbour or friend help?
Or can you contact your gas supplier ?

Apparently smart meters have a finite battery life so it could have run out too
