Where to buy towels?

We need to replace our bathroom towels as very worn and falling apart. They were originally from Debenhams so can't get exact replacements now. Can't find the colours we want on M and S or John Lewis websites. We're looking for a deep chocolate brown set and taupe set. (Bath towels, hand towels and flannels).

Any recommendations? Other than BHS, I've never bought household stuff like this anywhere else and don't know where to start!

Dunelm Mill do nice towels

Some of my best ones have come from Sainsburys - better than M&S and John Lewis, and cheaper. Not sure if they have those colours though

Asda. I love the bath sheets they do, also second vote for Sainsbury. If you want thinner towels (good for taking on holiday and drying quicker) I love the IKEA ones.

The Fox and Ivy Epyptian cotton ones from tesco came out top of a review site I read recently. I can't see chocolate or taupe though.

You are aware that buying another brand of brown and taupe, will be very unlikely to match exactly to your current towels?

I can see John Lewis & Next have chocolate, but no idea of quality.

Asda. The Egyptian cotton ones are amazing.

TK Maxx

I’m quite fussy on towels, the only ones I’ve ever loved are The White Company. We bought their waffle edge ones last year, love them!

RidingMyBike · 17/02/2021 10:01

Thank you, will have a look at all those. Is the quality ok with the supermarket ones? We weren't too impressed with the quality of the Debenhams ones.

Yes, they won't match existing ones but trying to get them to match bathroom. The existing ones are all very worn so will get passed on to local vet rather than trying to mix and match with new ones.

Very happy with Sainsbury ones and I'm fussy about quality too.
I got 2 designer ones from John Lewis which were ££s more and they're much thinner.

I have towels from John Lewis and Tesco , there is hardly any difference if you wash and tumble them they are al the same .. tk maxx is great though for getting nice patterns and colours !

Matalan Egyptian cotton 720gsm (if I recall correctly) - really fluffy and 'big' towels. Range of colours. Very impressed with quality/price ratio.

Some Primark have been excellent - but not all.

White Company were very disappointing. Colour faded quickly (slate grey so they look very worn when they aren't) and not a fluffy wrap at all.

Soak & Sleep did some good ones a while ago - not hugely fluffy but very velvety - they felt like a towel the Queen might have; substantially classy.

I like John Lewis ones

Jericha · 17/02/2021 11:09

ASDA and Sainsbury's. They are indistinguishable (to me) in terms of quality to the bale of towels I got from John Lewis now they've all been through the wash. I like the designs more too.

Starch1e · 17/02/2021 11:20

Very impressed with H&M CONSCIOUS hand towels bought 10 months ago, sadly don't seem to have exact style so can share link. Still lovely and soft despite lack of tumble drier.

Oddbutnotodd · 17/02/2021 14:23

Wayfair or Next do chocolate towels. Don’t know what the quality is like.

User7458 · 17/02/2021 14:31

Next are OK, I buy them usually as like an XL bath sheet which they do and good choice of colours.

ostrom · 17/02/2021 15:13

I'm also hear to say Sainsburys! In fact, last week I dyed my set of Sainsburys towels chocolate brown from green to match my new bathroom. Yes the towels have lasted that well I was happy to dye them rather than replace. Still fluffy after a long time and have outlasted my Christy and White Company towels.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 17/02/2021 15:14

I have some from Asda that I’ve had for years and have done amazingly well.
I recently bought some hand towels from John Lewis and the stitching completely frayed after one wash.

RidingMyBike · 17/02/2021 19:58

Thank you!

I've had towels from Asda and Matalan for a few years and they are great. They wash well, are still thick and have kept their colour.
