Rust on Chrome

Help!

I have quite a bit of rust on a heated towel rail.

I have read that scrubbing with screwed up aluminium foil will remove rust and miraculously repair the chrome.

I've been trying this but it's quite hard to get to some of the rusty bits and if doesn't seen too make much difference.

I'm wondering whether my foil is the right type, it's quite flimsy. What's the best type of foil for this?

Also should I try to clean the rust off first with a toothbrush?

I don't want to lose the opportunity for the miraculous repair.

What about a Brillo bad?

Is there something I can paint on and wipe off?

Thank you.

I used Stardrops Pink Stuff paste on some rust on a shower curtain rail. It really did work brilliantly on some tiny flecks/less affected areas, but not as well on some more seriously rusty bits.....I’d recommend though, it was only a few quid and has loads of other uses Smile

Try Chrome polish _ Solvol Autosol. Its used for cars/ bikes.

Thank you both That's very helpful.

There's quite a lot of rust, so I think I'll need the Autosol.
