Please can you recommend any products, gadgets or equipment that will help me love housework. What has made your housekeeping easier and what’s been a waste of money. Thank you.

Most cleaning products are a waste of money. I make my own spray with 2/3 bottle water, 1/3rd white vinegar and a squirt of washing up liquid. Great for everything-bathrooms, shower screen, windows, kitchen, stainless steel, microwaves, cupboard fronts fridge etc. I use microfibre cloths from Amazon.
I use a blue cistern block for the loo, just the value ones. That's it, nothing else needed.
Would get a cordless vac, the gtech air ram is great, can do the house 3 times on one charge.

Robot hoover. I don’t need to love my housework. I just want it done as soon as possible.

The Team TOMM app will probably help you to enjoy housework more, plus there is a FB group that goes with it.

I replaced my steam cleaner with a flash power mop and it's brilliant on my laminate floor
I'm disabled so I do little bits everytime I get up!
eg wipe sink and counters when I boil the kettle to make a drink, then put washing up into soak with the rest of the water
Wipe bathroom down when I'm in there
I have a Cordless dyson which I find brilliant
It's just creating new habits
I wander round with a bin bag and try to throw a few bits out weekly, and keep a small charity bag, for clothes I no longer enjoy wearing

vileda spray mop, ideal for laminate floors. My hallway gets very messy but this quickly cleans it. Use method floor cleaner to go inside it.

Karcher window hoover, got mine on offer and it makes the windows look so much cleaner, also use it on the shower door.

Microfibre clothes

Elbow grease is a great cleaning product, only 99p and use it on most things

Toilet duck discs makes the toilet smell good

NotwatchingSpooks · 08/02/2021 10:26

Thatwentbadly which one do you have and would you recommend it?

BigTallyWacker · 08/02/2021 10:31

I agree most cleaning products are as waste of money and hot soapy water will suffice in most cases however personally if I have a nice selection of products that I like the smell of and “enjoy” using I’ll be more likely to clean more often and not feel it’s such a drudge.

Cordless vacuum def a good buy.

I love my spray mop too.

Thatwentbadly · 08/02/2021 10:50

Eufy c30 which is often recommended on MN. It’s not as good as hoovering yourself but I love her.

TinyCheese · 09/02/2021 12:11

OP, I find listening to podcasts makes the housework a bit more bearable!

dudsville · 09/02/2021 12:12

Do it of an evening with headphones and a glass of wine.

Slothkin · 10/02/2021 20:16

I bought a eufy H11 and absolutely love it. So easy to have a quick whip round rather than lugging the hoover up and down stairs.

ButterfliesandMoths · 11/02/2021 01:50

Thanks everyone. Especially like the idea of listening to podcasts while I'm doing it.

A window vac. It's a Vileda one. £20ish. Makes mincemeat of cleaning windows, glass and mirrors.
