Anyone know if Heals towels are any good? Or can recommend a different place? I'm sick of my towels and want hand towels that are nice and absorbent. The one I have in the bathroom at the moment, is wet after wiping my hands once on it.

I have some Christy towels which are better but they are old now.

I don't know about Heals but I really really rate Dunelm's Egyptian cotton range.

Parkmama · 29/01/2021 17:44

I really rate towels from Primark, I know that's a bit tricky right now as they're all closed but I would recommend their most expensive range. They wash well, very absorbent, nice thickness and excellent value for the price.

Thank you. I'll check out Dunelm Egyptian cotton range and take a look at Primark.

I like Christy's. They last for years.
JL or M&S egyotian cotton or supima ones are fine.

i have a Primark one and it is better than I had expected. Cheap ones tend to get rough quickly regardless of where they are from.

Thank you. I actually spent a bloody fortune on Heal's towels. I do still have my Christy ones and will continue to use them. It's just that I had some other hand towels, that were meant to be amazing Egyptian cotton blah blah and were awful. I was so fed up with them.

I agree that Christy are very good quality. Mine must be nearly ten years old.

They last really well. Mine are probably that old too.
There's something to be said for a company that specialises in one product.

I still have some white Christy towels that I bought for when my daughter was born - she will be 28 soon! We have Egyptian cotton from M&S, tumble dry and don’t use fabric conditioner on them.

poppyzbrite4 · 06/02/2021 23:20

They are brilliant towels. I wanted a change, something a bit different and went with waffle towels in putty pink and charcoal. I also bought some lovely spa towels. I then bought a couple of duvet covers! I haven't received the towels yet, but am very pleased with the duvet covers.

But yes, it doesn't surprise me that the Christy towels have lasted nearly thirty years. Mine are still fluffy and absorbent.

I recently went a bit mad and ordered towels from Amara (pima cotton), King of Cotton (cotton/ modal mix), M&S (cotton/ tencel mix), Yves Delorme (cotton/ modal mix) and Zara Home (cotton/ modal mix) so I could compare them like-for-like. The Yves Delorme won out for me in the end, but the King of Cotton (on which I didn’t like the banding) and Zara Home (who only had an off-white, not white) were close seconds and similar to the Yves Delorme for a fraction of the price.

I bought the pink waffle ones from Heals when they were in the sale. Waffle towels are my thing just now as they are not heavy, dry very quickly and they feel so nice. They were 50% off, so a really great price. I bought some cheaper waffle ones from Made.com too and they are good too.

That sounds like some serious research! I'm glad you found something that works for you.

I'm pleased to hear you liked the waffle ones. I bought charcoal and pink for hand towels and a set of spa towels (bath/hand). They haven't arrived yet though and the date keeps being pushed back, so they're now arriving at the end of March.

@poppyzbrite4 - they are worth waiting for :)

I like supporting Heals and even more since one of their staff (during a phone call) told me that the owners were paying all their staff their full wages during the first lockdown (no-one furloughed) when everything was closed. I'm not sure if Heals is open now or not but it was great to hear there are some very decent employers.

Yes, it's still open as I was on the phone to customer services last week. It's really nice to hear that they look after their staff, that's always good to hear.

I'm glad to hear the towels are worth waiting for. The duvet covers I bought are brilliant and I'm really pleased with them.

Is it normal to have a towel fetish?

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 28/07/2021 07:14

@England2012 I have a slight one Blush I feel like Monica Geller when I'm sorting them. And a little like Gollum. 😉 I recently left my teenage son home alone for the first time. I got home after a week to discover he had dyed his friend's hair BLACK in our just over a year old bathroom. ShockShockShock He says he'll replace bathroom flooring. But I was more devastated that he gave her one of our white Christy's towel to dry her hair on. 😟😟😟😟 It hasn't come out. He said he thought "it was a towel that didn't matter..." It's like he doesn't know me at all.

England2012 · 28/07/2021 09:57

I'd be furious if someone used an expensive white towel. With me I have over 200 bath sheets and buying more lol
