What are these tiny bugs? Found them on a book I kept in the bathroom.

Mites. Often find them in flour.

Book lice? I have them in my bathroom too

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/01/2021 16:56

Book lice, they will eat anything paper.

Mol1628 · 27/01/2021 16:57

Yes they look like book lice I get them in my bathroom

letitsnowletitsnowletitsnowww · 28/01/2021 02:19

Thanks all for your answers. From what I've read they're harmless?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/01/2021 16:42

Harmless for you. But they breed quickly and eat everything

therearefourlights · 28/01/2021 16:56

Look like mould mites to me.

Sorry op, your response there made me chuckle!

Def exterminate

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/01/2021 08:07

I do conservation work and it’s a pest we do not want. We use a special brush and hoover to get rid of every last one. This isn’t something you want. They are a pest. They will breed and eat their way through anything paper. So they will infest other rooms. Books and wallpaper. It will start to look like lace.

Seriously, book lice are not something I’d be happy to have living in my home. Exterminate.

letitsnowletitsnowletitsnowww · 30/01/2021 14:29

Thanks all for your replies. I guess keeping books in the bathroom was a bad idea. Also, maybe they came from some second hand books I picked up 😩, that's the one I found them on.
What do you all do to exterminate them? From what I've read just dehumidifier, vacuum etc

OP posts:
DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/01/2021 17:11

Yes they will have come in on the second hand books. You can keep them in the bathroom. But get rid of the lice first. Vacuuming is probably the best way. Then vacuum any cracks or tiles they can lurk in.
