Harpic Limescale remover, that is. Great down the loo, horrible in my sink, which now has discoloured splash marks. It doesn't seem to changes the texture, still shiney, but it looks horrible.

cover the whole sink in it so it matches?

apparently it will stain if the stainless steel is warm. once it's discoloured it's irreversible.

In case anyone else is doofy enough to do this- and its very tempting to splash it on everything as it really does work- but only in loos, I removed the staining by rubbing it all over with VERY FINE wire wool.
