Roman blinds that stink of smoke

I’ve just had some Roman blinds made, I’ve collected them today and they stink of cigarette smoke. Tragically the lady who made them recently lost her young son so I do not feel comfortable raising any issues so need to sort it for myself.

They are a pale pink fabric which is polyester www.terrysfabrics.co.uk/products/herringbone-curtain-fabric-blush?variant=29415996325982&_$ja=tsid~%7Ccid~10457638525%7Cagid~109247650008%7Ctid~pla-986898727157%7Ccrid~446164481176%7Cnw~u%7Crnd~16689587376432097356%7Cdvc~m%7Cadp~%7Cmt~%7Cloc~1006944&gclid=CjwKCAiAo5qABhBdEiwAOtGmboqlEo8v1bg-WJ94HF3F0e_hgqj0Z7DnQkWKEgi7Ny3ggvKmhXSLTxoCl9oQAvD_BwE

There is also a small black dot on the front top of one of the blinds, I don’t know whether it’s pen or pencil or something like that.

Thanks everyone in advance.

What sort of track are they on? If it's a velcro top and proper safety cords, you can remove the blind from the track and hang it somewhere well ventilated. You then just connect it all back up again. Take a photo of the back 1st though so you can see where everything goes back!

In the soft furnishings trade in case you wondered!

Thanks @cherrypie790 I haven’t put them up at the window yet. Can I just open them up fully and air them in the garage say?? I have some febreeze type stuff I can give a light mist with? I’m conscious of water spots on the material but there is that black spot that’s pen or pencil that I will have to try and get out. What a nightmare.

Yes hang out first, and see if that helps - and it may help to wipe the track and the cords over with something like a baby wipe. Baby wipe may also help the black dot - be very careful with febreeze in case it leaves water marks.... try a bit that you can't see first, like the turnover on the back.

Great advice, @cherrypie790 thank you I will try all of that.

Hang them up to air and if that fours that work kay flat a sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda and leave for at least 24 hours

For the spot use this but try a tiny test patch somewhere that can't be seen first

Good luck!
