Just wondering: if you have a cleaner, how often do they come and how many rooms do they clean?

Mine comes once a week and does the whole house. I wish I could afford for her to come twice a week!

MaverickDanger · 18/01/2021 05:54

Once a week for two hours.

Four rooms downstairs and large hallway & six rooms upstairs. Plus stairs.

Twice a week

YukoandHiro · 18/01/2021 06:04

Used to come one a fortnight for four hours - four rooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen.

We've cancelled them due to covid

Humphriescushion · 18/01/2021 06:05

I have two Blush ( long story why, was not intended), they come together for two hours a week. One does the ironing and then helps clean if finished. It is a small house, one open plan room downstairs, one bathroom, one ensuite and three small bedrooms. Is the best thing i spend money on by far.

WOW! That's a magician, not a cleaner. Do they hoover, mop, wipe, etc? All that in two hours for ten rooms plus stairs?

Yep, full works. Wipes down windows, all surfaces, dusts, hoovers etc.

We make sure we keep the place really tidy & we don’t have a lot of stuff, so I think that helps. If we had more stuff out on surfaces or she was having to tidy/move things, it wouldn’t be possible.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 18/01/2021 16:24

We have a very tidy five-bedroom house but ours does 15 hours a week! We have four dogs though. I'm truly jealous of your amazing cleaner.

Fifteen hours a week! She must be doing more than cleaning? Ironing? Washing? Otherwise that's ridiculous and I'd be questioning their efficiency

SilenceOfThePrams · 18/01/2021 16:40

2 hours a week. 3 beds, 2 baths, 3 receptions and a kitchen.

Wipe down surfaces, clean loos, change sheets on one bed, hoover, mop, empty all bins. No tidying.

Redglitter · 18/01/2021 16:43

15 hours a week 😲😲
Youre kidding! What on earth does she do in all that time.

MaverickDanger · 18/01/2021 16:46

Wow I’m amazed at 15 hours! We used to have another cleaner in a different country for four hours per week, and she would do our washing, ironing, change bedding, tidy away clothes etc.

JabbyMcJabface · 18/01/2021 16:54

Twice a week. Between 6-8 hours depending on how much ironing we have.

3 bedrooms, two studies (although she doesn’t do these rooms at the moment as we’re wfh), three bathrooms plus a cloakroom, large kitchen/family room plus living room.

We’re not the tidiest. I try to tidy up before she comes, but that’s always the night before and by the time we’ve done breakfast the next day I feel like it’s a mess again.

I don’t believe it’s possible to do a whole house in two hours! But then again I definitely clean to a higher standard than our cleaner. I just don’t have time to do it myself (or inclination).

Is she doing a full clean through twice a week? I personally don’t think that’s necessary. I would do all bathrooms and the kitchen twice a week, as well as living room and hallways downstairs. Bedrooms and stairs/landings are fine once a week.
SquigglePigs · 18/01/2021 17:18

Five bed house, 3 hours, once a week. It feels about right.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 18/01/2021 19:18

She does five hours three times a week. dusts, hoovers, mops (we don't have carpets downstairs), makes our bed (we don't have kids at home) every time. There are three bathrooms, that she cleans every time. And three reception rooms, again that she cleans every time. I think it's the fact that we have the windows open every day for at least an hour each morning that makes the place dusty. Plus four dogs leave a lot of hair around and make the floors dirty. Our previous two cleaners did the same number of hours. We like the house to be pretty spotless so if we could we'd have her every day. And the wiping down is necessary because we don't want the house to smell of dogs (which we have so far managed to avoid).

I have a cleaner who comes once a fortnight for 2-3 hours. She cleans the full house in that time a 3 bed/2 bath with a large kitchen extension/lounge/utility/downstairs loo/study/dining room. She's wonderful. I do obviously clean myself the week she isn't here and keep on top of things quite well so the house is never dirty as such it's just a nice that 2 weeks out of the month I don't have to worry about doing a full house clean.
