Tree sap removal

Just taken the Christmas tree down and it’s left tree sap on the floor . Does anyone have any tried and tested methods for removal please ?

What sort of floor?

🤦‍♀️ would help if I’d mentioned it was stained floorboards .

I used peanut butter to get it sap of my hair... can’t see it doing damage to wood so worth a try?

Thanks, already resorted to scratching it off with my fingernail and then wiping with nail polish remover , worked in a fashion but has also left a silvery patch .
