Eve mattress, rib pain and mattress toppers

We got an Eve mattress a year or so ago - DH has never liked it, but it sorted a lower back problem for me.
It is rated a medium firm to firm on various website - but I find it a different feel than my previous firm Ikea one. Hard to describe.

I turn a lot during the night and eventually settle on my side - and always wake up during the night and in the morning with some rib pain and shoulder pain. This went away when I slept on a sofa bed for a few nights in the summer (but the lower back pain came back).

Could it be the Eve? I have also a collection of pillows of different shape and height - nothing makes a difference. The Eve was super expensive, so I cannot ditch it - would a topper help at all (or does it defeats the point of the eve memory foam concept?)

Has anyone found a topper which helped resolve the memory foam / firmness issue of one of these mattresses?

You spend a third of your life in bed.
Do you have a spare bed that you could swap the mattresses?

I got rid of my Eve mattress for the same reason.

I bought a coil sprung mattress instead and sleep pain free.

@ILoveShula - no spare bed but the kids'

this was also my first post-ikea mattress purchase and it did help the lower back - shame about the ribs

@JobRetentionScheme - good to hear (in a weird way) that it s not just me being picky with the eve...
