My name is ........ and I am a complete oven slob.

I got round to cleaning my oven to leave overnight soaking in Ovenmate. I got up extra early for me to look at the ‘magic’. I’m afraid I have had to do a second clean as it was sooooo filthy! 😩

It’s a good job I had three packs of Ovenmate bought in over the years with the intention.

Anyone else want to sit in the circle of shame?

I am impressed!!! Xmas GrinCakeStar
My oven and fridge are spotless but the rest of the house is Blush

I was an oven slob until I moved house and the oven was so clean it looked like it hadn't been used.

I wipe the glass door inside as I've use it. Quick spray of kitchen cleaner or fairy liquid and a wipe with a wet cloth. It cleans easier when it's hot. I have oven liners at the bottom of the oven (cheap to buy on eBay and clean very easily)

I clean the oven racks regularly, hot bowl of soapy water and a wire wool/wire tooth brush.

Then I'd say every 2/3 months I use oven pride to clean the sides.

My oven has a self cleaning button and tells me when it needs doing.

So the actual oven bit is fine, it's just the glass door that requires manual labour that gets done maybe once a year?!

So I'm with you...life's too short!

I wonder if I turn the heat to the highest setting for three days it would turn the inside to ash? 😂. ( not a genuine question)

Total oven slob here. Mine is horrendous

Oven slob here
It is a rayburn, dont know if that makes any difference to anything.
Decided I was the only one going to look in it for years[which was true] so just dont do it. No repercussions from anything whatsoever. To be fair, I have a smaller oven which I use more, and I do clean that one.

Onedropbeat · 04/01/2021 12:25

I’m just about to book the oven cleaner In to clean my oven

Unless... has anyone found a product that gets it looking like new again without any scrubbing?

Bluntness100 · 04/01/2021 12:31

I hate doing it. I have now however put silicone mats at the bottom. And am making an effort, but at the end of last year had a man come and clean them, so I think I will do that annually.

The last time I did it properly myself I burnt a hole in the floor..

HeronLanyon · 04/01/2021 12:34

I did this for the first time for an oven I’ve lived with fir more than 10 years. Only cursory wipings down and grill cleaned regularly in that time. I don’t eat meat which makes a pretty huge difference but still.
Worked a treat and wasn’t that bad.
My gas hob, on the other hand, is cleaned a lot Grin

DH used to do ours infrequently but at least once a year. He's been too busy to do it recently, but I did read on MN recently about putting the metal racks into the dishwasher, so I tried that and it did make them a lot better at least.

I did give the oven itself a small scrub while the racks were out, but need time to do it properly. A commodity which is always in very short supply here...

BiddyPop · 04/01/2021 12:51

I do clean the grill very regularly though.
