Am in desperate need of new bedding sets (x2 ideally) I ordered some online and had to change the first one at midnight because it made DH itch (he does has psoriasis on his legs). So will send back the unopened one and use the opened one for spare bed/dogs etc. It was 52%polyester and 48% cotton. Do I need more cotton or mor W polyester? DH wants/needs something softer- have seen fogarty do a softer range (In dunelm) and silentnight do too- these are 100% polyester so is that what I need? Can anyone explain and/or recommend? Nothing brushed cotton or fleece- lovely as they are our house is so warm it get ridiculous at night

I'm no expert on psoriasis, but I only buy 100% cotton bedding. Usually Egyptian cotton with a high thread count. DH sweats in anything other than cotton, and polyster is essentially a plastic! I wouldnt think its any good for psoriasis or if you want skin to breath under the sheets!
You can buy reasonably priced sets online, or even asda, sainsburys etc do good Egyptian cotton ranges.

I tend to only buy Cotten, but actually my very old polyester/cotton one is the one I like best. It's old so it's thin & breathable. All the other FAR more expensive 100%cotton ones are hotter & not as breathable.

Did you wash it?

Give it a(mother) wash, another rinse after & if you can, put it outside on the line for some fresh air & try again.

I only buy cotton, but have had polyester cotton before.

You need to wash bedding and towels before first use as it rubs against the skin.

Did you wash it before use?

100% cotton all the way - I bought some lovely stuff in the John Lewis sale

MerryChristmasToYou · 05/01/2021 20:24

I usually get bed sheets from Aldi, and duvet sets from Ikea, M&S or John Lewis via charity shop. Egyptian cotton is much nicer.
I have a primark 't-shirt' one that has polyester in it but I bought it because it was cheap and I popped the mattress in it.

I have different ones for different times of the year. Brushed cotton JL one at the moment. Super cosy.

Wash it if you haven’t always give towels beddings a wash before use.

Seasalt do 100% Cotten covers. Lovely and soft. Wash and iron well.

It could just need a wash - they spray fabric stiffeners to give that lovely crisp new clothes feel to things.

You need to stay away from synthetic fibers if you have a skin condition and wash the bedding with little laundry detergent, preferably one of those for sensitive skins and no conditioner. I sometimes do an extra rinse cycle to make sure no residues are left.
You didn't say if you have washed the cover before putting it on, but I'd say if you haven't this might be one of the reasons for the itching. Every time I tried to put my son in a new pajamas I haven't washed before (not something I normally do, but it happened), he scratched himself like crazy all nigh:(.
