Keeping bedding smelling fresh

How do you keep your unused bedding fresh when not in use? I’ve put dryer sheets in the drawer but there still seems to be a slight fousty smell when I go to put them on the bed on sheet change day.

make sure they are completely dry when putting them away.
wash the sheets hot.
air the room where they are stored regularly to keep humidity down.

I keep bars of scented soap in the drawers, that seems to work..

have fewer sets so they get used more often. Max 3 for each bed.

I try to line dry/radiator/clothes airer rather than tumble dry.
