Can anyone recommend a deep fitted sheet that doesn’t shrink!

They always shrink. Yes I use a tumble dryer for bedding which I know doesn’t help. I buy ‘deep fitted’ but the one I have is torn at the edge where the sheet is stretched.... is it worth spending a lot of money on one? If so which ones? Does the thread count make a difference? I have a divan so a deep mattress with a mattress protector on it abs currently my electric blanket so must be deep fitted!

The ones I have from John Lewis have not shrunk.

M&s is the best one I have. John Lewis ones were the worst - lovely thread count, but I now have to use my 'super kingsize' sheet and mattress protector on my double.

MobLife · 31/12/2020 13:01

I've always been happy with the ones from John Lewis-also tumble dry!

Dachshelp · 31/12/2020 13:04

Ok thanks... I was literally just thinking about buying a super king... but having creases across the mattress would annoy me! I will try these then. I might get a white one and then dye it.

What does the thread count actually mean? Does it really make a difference? Is it just to the feel that you would notice the difference?

I like Ikea’s fitted sheets.

BikeRunSki · 31/12/2020 15:33

I got some from Made.com recently, which have been excellent. Slightly too bjg if anything, definitely not shrunk.

Dachshelp · 31/12/2020 15:36

I came across made earlier whilst googling but had never heard of them before...

Rise and Fall. I think it may have shrunk a little but it still fits and it never comes off which every other fitted sheet I’ve had does. We have the cool and crisp. They also do a soft one.

Dachshelp · 31/12/2020 15:36

Ok thanks will look at those also

Amazon basics deep fitted sheets, think they're about 20 quid. Great quality, wash well. Everyone in the house prefers them over the more expensive ones! Wash beautifully, smooth and slightly silky, they're brilliant.

The best ones we’ve had are from Costco, they fit up to 40cm deep mattress. It’s very hit and miss whether they have them in store though. Ok of their high thread count bedding is excellent if you can get hold of it.

BornIn78 · 01/01/2021 15:06

*All of their...

Dachshelp · 01/01/2021 22:02

The one on my bed currently is amazon so I don’t fancy trying them again... I don’t have a Costco near me sadly.... will have to order online. Can anyone answer my question about thread count? I understand what a thread count it, but how much difference does it really make?

Higher thread counts definitely make a difference to the feel of the bedding. We have an 800tc which initially felt a bit stiff but it has softened each time it has been washed and is super soft. Feels quite thick and comfortable.

I buy M&S, Sheridan or Next always minimum 600 tc. All tumble dried and no shrinkage - some of the sheets I’ve had for several years!

blisstwins · 02/01/2021 06:20

I used to buy high thread count, but switched tonpercwle wnd find that makes more of a difference. Per cake are smooth and cool.

Dachshelp · 02/01/2021 07:57

@blisstwins do you mean percale?

Yes. Percale. Sorry for the typo. I love the smoothness and crispness of percale. I think it matters even more than thread count, though I do not know why!

CrystalMaisie · 02/01/2021 08:26

My previous dep fitted sheets tore at the corner. I now have M&S Extra deep fitted sheets for my super king size bed and have tumble dried, they haven’t shrunk or torn.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 02/01/2021 08:28

I’ve purchased some deep fitted sheets from Wilkos which are excellent. They’re tumble dried every wash.

I think the recommendation came from here originally.

Definitely go for the highest thread count you can afford.
