How many times a week

Further to the glamorising cleaning post I’m curious how many times a week do you/your cleaner properly clean your house, floors etc and how long does it take you?

Never.

Pipandmum · 27/12/2020 22:41

I have a cleaner who comes once a week and does the bathrooms, vacuums and steam cleans the tiled floors. It takes her four hours (big house). In between I vacuum maybe once and clean the kitchen as needed. Children are responsible for their own rooms (teens) - I don't touch them.

I Hoover every day due to 5 cats who are hell bent on shedding their fur everywhere, but over a year ago I got a eufy robot vac and it is truly one of the best purchases I've ever made. No more dragging out the bloody hoover every day. Every night, either myself or my husband do a quick blast of the kitchen floor with our steam vac. It only takes a few minutes. Bathroom floors are steam vac'd 3 times a week normally. Again, just takes a few minutes.

addictedtotheflats · 27/12/2020 22:44

Probably once a week. Obviously clean the kitchen after we have cooked. Hoover might come out a couple of times and bathroom at least once a week with a wipe down in between.

KiKiDeluxe · 27/12/2020 22:49

Once a week. I have not had my cleaner during COVID as her husband is vulnerable, so team effort me and the DCs.

DfEisashambles · 28/12/2020 00:19

I do a deep clean (cleaned used to do it) once a week and a quick all over another day but hoovering and dusting is done daily.

It's always a work in progress. It's never completely clean unless I'm expecting certain visitors.

DustyMaiden · 28/12/2020 00:23

DH has just been made redundant. I have found a job so he is now in charge of housework. He has a whack a mole scheme. Do nothing until you notice something is disgusting and then clean that.

PegasusReturns · 28/12/2020 00:29

Cleaner cones 4x per week for 5 hours. The house is “properly” clean after her visit.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/12/2020 00:32

When I can be bothered lol. I usually give the kitchen a deep clean once a week, it helps having a few drinks and listening to music.

She cleans for 5 hours, four times a week? Do you have a very big house?
PegasusReturns · 28/12/2020 00:49

@ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords quite big.

I also have 4 DC and a FT job. She’s a housekeeper as much as a cleaner so does laundry, changes beds, picks up dry cleaning, tidies etc.

Pre covid when I worked outside of the home she would be in the house when my DC got home from school and would occasionally cook.

Now I’m at WFH FT I probably don’t need her as much but don’t want to cut her hours.

babygrootandstarlord · 28/12/2020 01:36

I deep clean once a week.

At the moment I'm having to hoover 2+ times a day due to having two small insane kittens who have decided litter boxes are to be played in, and think rolling in litter then running madly around the flat spraying it into every corner is a great idea....I steam vac the floor once a day for the same reason. Hmm

Nightly I wipe down countertops, sinks etc.

MrsPworkingmummy · 28/12/2020 01:39

My cleaner completes a thorough weekly 3 hour clean. We then hoover through the ground floor most days. The kitchen benches/table get wiped down after every meal.

thelegohooverer · 28/12/2020 18:10

What is a deep clean?

I hoover every couple of days but I’d only do a deep clean (move heavy furniture, chase cobwebs and clean base boards) 4 or 5 times a year. I probably do under the beds every month give or take. The kitchen gets a quick sweep and mop every day.

I think if you do little and often there really isn’t a need for a “deep clean”

Hangingover · 28/12/2020 18:12

I'm in awe of people who hoover and dust daily. I don't even think I own a duster.

Northernsoullover · 28/12/2020 18:16

I always clean but never do a big clean. If it needs cleaning I'll do it. Say, my sink gets toothpaste in, it gets cleaned. I'll clean the loo most days because I have boys. Kitchen gets wiped when used. Skirting boards once in a blue moon.
