Japanese knife and sharpener - recommendations

Hellofayearsofar · 20/12/2020 20:33

I need the best knife sharpener and a small Japanese knife for DH. He has gone through a number of sharpeners but says that nothing does the job!

Proper knife sharpening stones and a knife from Tog Knives.

Not sure what kind of knife you mean (kitchen knife? Pen knife?) but my sister has a Niwake kitchen knife which is amazingly sharp. They do all kinds of knives and tools for kitchen, garden, etc, so might have what you want, even if it's not a kitchen knife, but they are very expensive.

I spelt Niwaki wrong. this is the website.

Also after some male slippers that don't end up stinking!

Global knives are amazing - definitely check them out; I love cooking and having the right tools makes life so much easier... they do sharpeners as well, but I use the following with mine, which is very reasonable priced and purports to be the “best in the world” (& works very well for me):

I got this for myself, and it's has bought back to life several knifes, including a cheap Kitchen Devil veg knife.

I have various global knives and this sharpener

I lost my first sharpener like this when I moved house. Tried the other cheaper options mentioned then eventually bought another water sharpener.

@MirandaMarple I ended up
Buying the same sharpener as you and I also got a Global knife. However the Global knife is not very sharp and we are convinced there must be some protective film on it as we were expecting g it to be razor sharp. Not sure whether our knife is faulty?
