Cleaning Jute bags

JumpLeadsForTwo · 15/12/2020 16:16

Any idea how best to clean a jute bag - the ones that have a slight plastic lining bonded in. A carton of apple juice had a hole in it, and now my favourite bag is all wet and sticky. Other than soap and water, any suggestions?

Baby wipes on the inside.
bicarb over the outside, leave it to dry then brush off.

Not tried it.

I hadn't thought of bicarb- will try that, thanks

I had (note the past tense) a jute rug, and I read that you could use upholstery cleaner as long as you didn't saturate it.

I'd probably give the outside a wipe with the baby wipe too. It won't do a brilliant job.

Don't use soap and water. Water and jute don't get along. I suppose you could just dab at it.

Oh no! Did the upholstery cleaner ruin the rug?

I spilt coffee on it and the rug perished.
I didn't try upholstery cleaner.
