Carpet cleaner/washer

Do you have one? Is it any good? Am looking at the bissell pet spot cleaner, but I’m going to want to wash a few high traffic areas, about 1.5m squares plus a couple of area rugs. Would it do that?
Am completely bamboozled by the reviews. And the descriptions tbh.

Oh, and another thing, do you have to use the specialist carpet cleaner solution, or can you bung in a wee bit of laundry detergent or something?

I have hired three different types and they all worked well. I find it good value to just hire once or twice a year as we have carpet on two floors. If my cat regularly soiled somewhere I might buy one. I use liquid laundry detergent.

Hi we've recently purchased the vax platinum carpet cleaner. I can't recommend it enough. It really does work!! We bought the solution to go with it. You don't use that much at a time - even though it's expensive it'll last. I only plan doing my carpets around twice a year.

i have the vax pet one and find it really good for spot areas i just put hot water a cap full of laundry liquid and a cap of zoflora in mine, then when ive done the carpet fill the tank with plain water to pull the chemicals out so its not full of chemicals for the next lot of dirt to stick to and you would be surprised how much dirt it rakes out of the carpets even though i do mine on a regular basis, it dosent do furniture or stairs though, but as a basic carpet cleaner at around £100 from argos it does the job (and i have four cats in my house)

Always aware that carpets get dirty again much quicker after cleaning. I don’t know if steam cleaning is better. Has anyone got an idea on this?

We have had a Neumatic Henry Valeting machine for many years 15 + its excellent when used with Autosmart Brisk available online or usually from the local rep who calls at carwashes weekly
Its a worth while investment

Yes Numatic George now I have checked is a semi professional valeting machine, ours has done all sorts, stairs chairs couch, cars, rugs even clothes when the kids spilt stuff etc, we tried various chemicals but found Autosmart Brisk the best.
