Where are all the white goods??

Our dishwasher has died and I can't find a decent one in stock anywhere! Curry's stock 62 integrated dishwashers online but only 10 are actually in stock! Recently we had to buy a new washing machine and that was a similar story. Does anyone know where all the appliances are and when they will be back?!

I bet they're all stuck at customs in Folkestone in the backlog

Ramdogs · 10/12/2020 22:36

@KiKiDeluxe Well that doesn't bode well does it? Not much hope for one in time for Christmas then!

AO.com delivered me a tumble dryer recently. You might have luck there.

I think all white goods are manufactured overseas these days 😬

Ramdogs · 10/12/2020 22:43

I've looked all over. Same story with all the major retailers.

My DH is determined to use the local shop. Our dishwasher died in March, they said the hope to get some in around mid December.

MidnightHangingTree · 10/12/2020 22:52

I got a washing machine from Argos recently, don't know if they do dishwashers but worth a look.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 10/12/2020 22:54

Same, had finally decided which tumble dryer to buy and then it went out of stock everywhere. As did option 2. Annoying.

notdaddycool · 10/12/2020 22:58

I think so many factories across the world shut down there are shortages of many things plus there are delays at ports.

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/12/2020 23:09

We had to get a washing machine in the first lockdown. I rang a local shop and plumped for the one in our price bracket that was in stock.
I looked in there this week for something different, they seem to have a bit of a range. Have you got an independent stockist nearby? Our experience is that they are competitive price wise.

lalafafa · 10/12/2020 23:58

There’s very few TV’s under £400 too. I replaced a dishwasher and washing machine with what I could get not what I wanted.

KiKiDeluxe · 11/12/2020 11:44

It's going to get worse and more expensive (tariffs) with a no deal Brexit 😫 Come on Boris!

helloxhristmas · 11/12/2020 11:45

Same place as all the bikes.

HasaDigaEebowai · 11/12/2020 11:46

Theres a global shipping crisis. Things will also get worse for the uK come January due to no deal Brexit.

Howzaboutye · 11/12/2020 11:47

Stuck because all the ships are full, everyone trying to get stock in before 31 Dec. Coz we have no clue about shipping after. It's ridiculous.
Buy what's in stock would be my advice

Elieza · 11/12/2020 13:27

Do not buy from currys. My friend and I did. And both regretted it. BBC watchdog have thousands of complaints about them.

I wish I’d bought from Argos. They do them.

TinselToedElf · 11/12/2020 13:41

We had to just buy a dishwasher that was in stock last month, not the one we actually wanted.

I was prepared to compromise just to get a damn machine in, both work full time and neither can be bothered washing dishes.

FWIW though we've been pleasantly surprised by the Beko model we managed to get, it's unbelievably quiet, so quiet we had to go and see if we'd actually switched it on when we first got it.

PickAChew · 11/12/2020 13:43

I'm willing our old fridge to keep limping on for this very reason.

JingsMahBucket · 11/12/2020 13:43

Manufacturing around the world, especially Asia, shut down so there’s a huge gap and backlog of units available. You’ll have to just take what you can get.

PickAChew · 11/12/2020 13:43

Ditto dishwasher.
