Blood stains out of cream wool carpet

DD helpfully had a massive nose bleed all over stairs and landing last night. Went straight at it with Dr Beckhams/Beechams cleaner - the one with the rectangular brush and this is what remains today. I stopped myself from rubbing too hard.

What would your first port of call be on the stain today? I don't really want a professional carpet cleaner in the house at the moment due to Covid.

Thanks

My first stop for carpet stains in fizzy water - it usually works, especially for fresh spills (I know that's not what you have here). Pour loads and loads over the marks - enough so you have to use a proper bath towel to soak it up - and let it flood the stains out. Pad dry with the bath towel, no rubbing. At least with water you know you're not doing any harm and the fizz seems to lift the marks out. If it doesn't work, you can move on to the chemicals.

Maybe a wee bit of ace laundry bleach on a cloth? My sister swears by this stuff for all stains and I have to agree it does work wonders on small spots and stains, it removed red wine spills from a white suite cover amazingly and you would honestly never know!

I've got fizzy water in the fridge luckily enough so can try that straight away - thanks

Cold tap water with salt would have been what I would have used first. Dab rather than rubbing

Stain devil for blood. Modern detergents don't have phosphates in them for environmental reasons but they were what got blood out. So you need to get the specialist stain remover like stain devil. After that, very dilute peroxide. Check it doesn't bleach the carpet first.

Try vanish oxi clean. Add a dash of vanish in a bucket and top it up with cold water. Use a fabric cloth and really scrub it. I've managed to remove my toddlers sticky food finger prints off our cream sofas and I also add a dash of comfort fabric softener in it and makes my sofas smell divine.

As grim as it sounds - saliva. The enzymes in it break down the blood and it comes out brilliantly. Obviously needs a thorough clean to then get the saliva out.

I remember hearing about saliva before now. Not got much to lose now by trying it. The stains are now faint but still obvious if that makes sense and unfortunately the carpet is slightly bleached around the stain where I've treated it. Hmm

Did you manage to get it clean?!

Dulled the stains but managed to bleach the carpet around the stains Confused I'll have to get a professional carpet cleaner out after this lockdown. Hoping they'll be able to sort the bleaching a bit. If anyone knows if that's possible and can comment then please do!
