Has anyone tried soap nuts for their laundry instead of liquids/powders?

I've tried most of the eco friendly laundry solutions.

The eggs, the soap nuts, the wee balls.

None were any use and had the same results of a wash with no soap. Now I just use powder and make sure I'm not being too liberal with the measure, I find unless it's a stained was I can get away with a much smaller amount than recommended.

My housemate did and he smelled a bit. You can just keep reducing the amount of regular detergent you use until it stops working. Most of them need nowhere near as much as the pack says. I use about a tablespoon for work clothes. And non enzymatic detergent isn't necessarily better for the environment or the water treatment services, despite marketing. It's not even irritating to most people's skin.

Just to add I have a desk job so I mean clothes that are basically clean.

Soap nuts were good to begin with but theyn you need a heavy duty washing machine cleaner to get rid of the residue. They nearly killed my machine.

Thank you all! I think I'll avoid them and stick with reducing the amount of powder I use.
