Help - my fridge door has started closing with a vice like grip. Why?

Just recently, my fridge door has been really difficult to open. You have to try and get your finger under the rubber seal and break the vacuum in order to get it open.

Then today, I noticed a bit of water on the floor behind the fridge.

Please tell me it's something really easy to fix because Dh is out of the country for 2 weeks!

I know it's a boring question, but I really need to know.

I'm going away next week as well, and I don't want the fridge to break down while I'm not here!

Mine started doing that about a year ago.

We have since had to replace as gas had gone out of it, not saying that was the cause of the sticky door, but might be worth try a fridge thermometer for a few weeks, just to check it.

Thanks Manxmum. I really hope we don't have to replace it. It's 6 years old, and I hoped to get a bit longer than that out of it.

Anyone got any idea how long fridges should last for?
