Advice needed on cleaning grid on grill pan.

We've recently developed a liking for chicken wings, which I cook in the oven using the grill pan. I use a brush on sauce (home made) which I add a few times while they are cooking. I line the base of the grill pan so it's easy to clean, but the metal grille that the wings sit on gets covered in baked on sauce which is hard to clean. DH does the washing up and keeps complaining about how hard it is to get it clean. Does anyone have any ideas about how we could make it easier to clean? Thanks

Couldn't you just sit the wings in the grill pan and not use the metal grille part? Yes, the base may not be as crispy, but I cant see another solution.

And let it soak in hot soapy water before attempting to clean it

Put the metal grill in a bin liner or plastic bag big enough to hold it, spray with Mr. Muscle oven cleaner, leave for 30 mins and wipe it down with warm soapy water.
I do my bbq grill like this every time, easy.

Soak it with a dishwasher tablet in the sink, it will all come off easily.

I usually just stick it in the dishwasher.
