Festive Fledglings Flap Frantically Towards A Calm, Clutter-free Christmas!

SingToTheSky · 30/11/2020 22:59

OK so clutter-free is a bit ambitious. But anyway, all welcome to join us for a jolly holiday thread, in which we very loosely follow (or at least half-heartedly mention now and then) the FlyLady system of housekeeping.

I’ll be posting links and reminding us all of various tasks up until Christmas Eve, for those who want to follow the system - and if it’s like previous years there will also be some specific extra missions to help us prepare our homes for Christmas. However, we really are just a bunch of frazzled Mumsnetters who will be very happy to welcome you along for chat whether you follow the system or not! We discuss housework, sure, but a whole lot of other stuff too.

We will also continue with the Keep Calm Corner, in which you’ll find various diverting questions, memes etc.

And finally a huge thank you to Foxes who did a fab job of running the thread for the first time in November! 💐

😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/12/2020 10:34

ED that looks lovely!

So much productivity.

Flying through with a ta da

2 batches bread dough for loaves
1 batch of bread dough for rolls
1 Christmas cake made and cooked (sponge)
2 small (1 egg 25g sugar sized) batches of fairy cakes (vanilla and coffee flavours)
Batch of biscuit dough prepped and left for cooling until late afternoon.
deal with a medical issue for teen Hmm

It's raining outside so motivation to be there to put stuff in car is low BUT i have orange flavoured giant buttons so i think i am going to treat myself to them once i have done.

After that it is clear up kitchen and sort for batch of biscuits that has a quick turnaround from making dough to being cooked.

Ooh yes we have been a chatty bunch this month! I am just charging the iPad and then I’ll set up a new thread with links for today :)

I feel very “on hold” until they turn up but they wouldn’t give us even a vague time. As long as they actually show up and fix it then it’s all fine.

PO3.1 (been too long since I’ve even tried to motivate myself!)
1️⃣Clear out counter area from under/around boiler
2️⃣Get a Caglet to wash up the small amount that is there
3️⃣Set up new thread

Aaaaand the call we've been dreading has happened
Lil zoo is to isolate.free on 30 th Dec

I'm in free fall.ive got crappiest immune system, and severe aneamia.if it comes for me it's not going to end well.weve been ultra careful to try and prevent this happening, with exception of schooling
My anxiety has shot thru roof and I'm terrified of leaving my babies or becoming so mentally unwell during the wait I can't take care of them anyway

Fuckity fuck

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/12/2020 12:04

Bloody hell zoo Sad i dont really know what to say

It is shit

SingToTheSky · 23/12/2020 12:08

Oh zoo I’m sorry lovely. You HAVE been careful and that will have helped - contact does not automatically mean transmission. I also read a bit about viral load earlier in the year and that reassured me a lot, the contact will have been minimal because of you being so careful and doing lots of hand washing etc. You provide a very healthy diet, you are outside a lot and will have built up a lot of vitamin D which helps (do you have iron tablets? Ferroglobin is good). You have lots of protective factors. Also lots of people even with underlying conditions and crap immune systems have been no more ill with it than others, so it doesn’t necessarily mean you would suffer badly.

The zoolets will cope if you’re out of action for a bit more - they might really surprise you when they actually see you really can’t do for them what you normally do. They might appreciate you more too 💖

Please sit down with a cup of tea and a warm fuzzy blanket and just let yourself feel all the feelings. I have tried to reassure a bit but I know that may make no difference and that’s ok too, it’s ok to be scared 😘

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/12/2020 13:31

Oh actually, a couple of isolations ago dc4 was in a classroom with three adults who all tested positive. Yet as far as i am aware he did not bring it home to us x

SingToTheSky · 23/12/2020 14:12

That what crazy times we live in, where we measure the passing of time by isolations 😱😂

TheUpholder · 23/12/2020 21:14

Haven’t caught up properly yet but his spotted your news Zoo Flowers. I hope the isolation period passes quickly for you all and Lil Zoo remains healthy. My DN avoided catching it despite the child he sits next to all day testing positive (he was tested during his isolation as his asthma kicked off but was negative). Also, remember risk factors are just that, a slight statistical increase in risk. The vast majority of infected people even in the vulnerable categories are fine. Thinking of you all and feel free to rant here if it helps.

Dancingtomusic · 24/12/2020 07:47

Zoo hope you are ok hon.
Sending you a massive hug Flowers

Waves to esteemed thread leader Sing and to everyone else!

🌲☃️🌲Just popping in to wish all of you a very Happy Christmas! 🌲☃️🌲

[You must all be very busy as no one has posted since yesterday lunchtime but try and make sure you get a bit of down time today fledglings while you are making Christmas lovely for everyone else! X]

I'm off to the emergency vet this morning as one of the furries hurt himself after curfew last night (had a mild issue for a few days and managed to exacerbate it by playing with his companion) and it seems to be much worse this morning ... no doubt I'll be surrounded by dogs who are feeling sorry for themselves having eaten too much chocolate off the tree... . Got to get the little bugger (said affectionately) in to the car first without him biting (which he does when in pain) so hope I return with all fingers intact!

Haven't caught up with thread properly at all so apologies for scant personals but wishing everyone (and all Fledgling DC) as happy a Christmas as possible in these strange times Flowers

Take care everyone xxxxx
