In praise of Lakeland

I promise I have no affiliation with Lakeland but I genuinely needed to find somewhere to come and sing their praises. I have just had yet another incredibly positive customer service experience with them, and every time I am bowled over by their willingness to be helpful and constructive about any issue. I've had vouchers honoured beyond their expiry, staff volunteering to lower prices paid when things go on sale after order, small broken items replaced immediately with an apology etc. None of it is rocket science but it feels really unusual to get off the phone with customer services and not want to throw something at the wall!

I feel good for getting it out there - I am resolved to share the positive as well as the negative at the moment.

We sent a order tonight. We live just over an hour from the flagship store. The staff there are always very helpful and pleasant and when it is open the cafe is great.

I agree they are very good , I bought a bin designed to hang on a cupboard door , I was getting my kitchen refitted so it was ages before I could fit it .
3 months later and no receipt I phoned to see if I could return it , yep as it's still in its box no problem .

Also their oven cleaner is fantastic!

DramaAlpaca · 28/11/2020 00:21

I agree, they are brilliant. Other companies could learn a lot from them.

AiryFairyMum · 28/11/2020 00:25

Love how they don't quibble! Buy everything I can there.

greenlynx · 28/11/2020 00:26

I never had experience with their customer service but the staff in our store is always polite and helpful. And the store is fun to visit, well at least for me, I love cooking and baking.
Their store was my first stop after lockdown was lifted, DD and I did a lot of baking and we run out of some things. It was so nice to go back.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/11/2020 13:38

I had to call them back today about my issue and they were clearly very busy. They answered my first call immediately and then called me back, so the time I spent waiting was on their bill, not mine.

Yes, about twenty years ago I had a big order from them (several of us at work pooled together to get one delivery and free p&p). When it arrived there was a leak from a bottle of oil, only minor. I phoned and they immediately replaced the lot even though most of it was untouched by the oil. I have Lakeland things in my kitchen I've been using for 25 years, I'm a big fan. Some of their stuff is a bit gimmicky but they get the basics so right.

CMOTDibbler · 28/11/2020 13:49

I always remember when my mum had bought a frying pan from them, she was perfectly happy with it, but one day she received a new one with a note to say that they'd had a few complaints about the surface on a batch, so were sending a replacement in case.

I love Lakeland, their staff are so helpful, and their stuff such good quality

RaininSummer · 28/11/2020 14:33

Great service has definitely been one of lakelands strengths for many years.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 28/11/2020 15:55

Also a few years ago I gave something a three star, fairly neutral review on their website and they immediately got in touch with me and refunded the cost of it.

StanfordPines · 28/11/2020 15:58

I agree. My mum used to get their catalogues back when they were Lakeland Plastics and mainly sold food bags.

They have coped well in the pandemic as they had a strong mail order system.

CeibaTree · 28/11/2020 22:44

I had something (a blender jug) that cracked 2 years after I'd bought it, and they replaced it with no questions - great customer service :)

HeronLanyon · 28/11/2020 22:55

I think their customer service is literally second to none.

GladysNarracott · 29/11/2020 21:47

I agree OP, Lakeland are fantastic. Top quality stuff and their customer service is absolutely second to none.

pelagra · 29/11/2020 22:24

They are amazing.A few years ago my robo-vac ran over dog poo. I rang tgem to see if I coud buy a new brush roller, as I couldn't face trying to clean it, and they insisted I return it for a replacement. Then called me say my model was discontinued so they would upgrade to the next model. (Before you "yeugh" at me, it wasn't my dog and I hadnt been in the house after the dog visited).

ChampagneCommunist · 05/12/2020 12:36

Love them too!

My dog chewed up some of their plastic ice Cubes & when I rang to see what they were filled with, they were able to tell me straight away that it was just distilled water, so no emergency vet trip

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/12/2020 12:39

They are brilliant, and I have waxed lyrical about them a few times. If you are ever near the Windermere store, use the cafe, and do pay a visit to the Ladies loos. They're fab. :)
