Black coffee spill on new pale cream carpet.. Help

I spilled black coffee in the new bedroom carpet. Immediately blotted it with a dry cloth and then used water to try and get rid. Didn't work. Then used washing up liquid, blotting dry. Then some carpet cleaning foam..

Each time the mark seems to go away only to reappear as it dried out.

Any advice? Please.

Some carpets can take bleach, can you try in an inconspicuous spot? When I had white carpets upstairs all drinks were banned!!

Dr beckmann carpet and upholstery cleaner is really good. It comes in a bottle with a brush attached at the top. You make a small hole in the seal (don't take the seal off) and it comes out through the brush. It works on most stains- it's worked on blood for me before! Can get it in tesco, generally a bit cheaper in home bargains etc

I feel for you

I would get a professional carpet cleaner in. A good one.... the results can be remarkable

Try using just plain water and mop it up by standing on towels? I suspect it’s soaked through into the underlay.

Cold water or lukewarm, never hot.

Check if you can bleach it, my mum had a new cream carpet and spilt something on it and the bleach removed it. She tried it in a corner first to make sure it'd be ok

Some useful suggestions - thank you

I am going to give it another go today with regular carpet cleaner and see how that goes. I have also ordered some stain spray which should arrive by the weekend.

This carpet has only been down for a few weeks Sad We had horrible old carpets left behind by the previous owners and are gradually replacing them. This coffee in bed was a costly luxury!

use less carpet cleaner than they state, probably a quarter

putting any type of detergent on carpet will attract more dirt as you can't rinse out the detergent, you then reach for more products to get the carpet clean again

Only use bleach if it’s a synthetic fibre, not wool

Update

I tried 3 times with regular carpet cleaner - and removed some of the coffee - although it did seem to spread it around a little.

Once this arrived I used it and the stain was gone. Amazing.

I knew the brand as I use their drain unblocker so figured it might be strong enough.

Phew! :)
