He's has a small room so want to maximise the space. He wants a desk underueath and wardrobe/chest. Ideally I just want a sturdy frame and we can to it the wardrobe, desk etc

My son has the IKEA one. Desk under with wardrobe. Only think about a high sleeper, if there isn’t enough room to stand up under the bed (for me) and the bed can’t be any higher or it will be at the ceiling.

Obviously depends how tall your son is.

Think about what he's hoping to get from it (desk, wardrobe, futon) and then go from there. Also think about long term use as that will impact too on the style you get x

IKEA do one that's a metal frame, full single mattress and you can buy a desk top to fit the full length under it ( shaped to give space to sit, and they sell a chest of drawers that will also got under that...

My 22 yo has one to give him room in our small 3rd bedroom ... he fits ok and quickly learned not to bang his head 😂

The key to a comfortable desk is depth. Boys can get very tall very quickly and will not be comfortable doing their homework at a desk less than 1m deep.

Most desks are too small.

I would go for a midsleeper with clothes and exercise equipment etc storage under the bed and a separate desk for study. Children barely need to hang clothes.
