Please recommend a good plug in vacuum cleaner

I've got a cordless Bosch Athlet pro animal. It cleans well but It only lasts 12 mins on turbo power which just isn't enough. I've got three floors and a shedding Jack Russell. I want a good plug in cleaner so that I can keep on hoovering until the job is properly done. Recommendations please!

I always say this on vacuum cleaner threads - Miele Cat & Dog C3. Reliable and great on pet hair. I have two hairy spaniels and it copes admirably.

henry

Shark lift away. Great for dog hair and is easy on stairs.
I used to have a Miele cat and dog and thought it was great until I tried the shark.

CrownAddict · 21/11/2020 09:08

Miele Cat and Dog C3 all the way. Just replaced mine after years. Portable, long lead, fab suction on pet hair.

AlwaysLatte · 21/11/2020 09:10

Exactly the same as @Audreyseyebrows I changed from Miele c&D to shark lift away and the shark knocks spots off if!

Thank you for your suggestions, I am now the proud owner of a Shark Liftaway! Got one in the Curry's Black Friday sale for £199. Have already used it and it's fantastic!

Glad you're happy with your buy @joystir59. It's always nice when someone comes back to update even when they don't go with your recommendation Grin Wink

HerFlowersToLove · 25/11/2020 00:49

I'd only ever recommend a Sebo. Hate the shark liftaway we have, the container is tiny, and bagless vacuum cleaners are so dirty. When you empty it out (3 or 4 times when you have a moulting dog) there's a cloud of filth and skin flakes. And cleaning the filter is just the most revolting job.

joystir59 · 25/11/2020 00:53

@HerFlowersToLove I wouldn't ever buy a bagged vacuum cleaner as I don't want to have to buy bags. I'm not bothered about having to clean the filters etc as I've been doing so with existing vacuum cleaner.

@DramaAlpaca
The Shark Liftaway had better reviews than the Miele C3 Cat & Dog.

Ooh, interesting. The Miele is bagged so wouldn't suit your needs anyway. I'd actually quite like a Shark Liftaway myself as I've heard they are really good. I got a Vax cordless to have as a second vacuum cleaner because I didn't want to spend on a Shark, but I hate it. I have to clean the vacuum head every time I use it, which is a pain.

QueenPaws · 25/11/2020 01:43

I really like my shark. Had a Henry before which kept falling over so I kicked it, my dad took it and loves him Hmm
The lights are great for doing under beds too

ColdNovemberNights · 25/11/2020 01:48

Shark Hairwrap!

cheeseychovolate · 25/11/2020 09:22

Miele cat and dog, brilliant. Sebo brilliant. Shark lift off very heavy

AlwaysLatte · 25/11/2020 15:50

@joystir59 glad you found one you're happy with. It's quite addictive looking at what it picks up, isn't it!

joystir59 · 25/11/2020 16:23

@QueenPaws
So that's what the lights are for!

joystir59 · 25/11/2020 16:25

@AlwaysLatte yes! I got so red up with the Bosch Athlet running out of power leaving the job half done than having to wait for it to charge up again. Using it on anything less than turbo is pathetic. Very disappointed as it was very expensive! Would be ok for a small flat no stairs no pets

The Sebo is the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had.

DuzzyFuck · 25/11/2020 20:17

Came here to say Shark but see you've beaten me to it OP! Isn't it amazing?!?

Audreyseyebrows · 26/11/2020 00:14

I told my dc that the lights are for hoovering in the dark so they like to shut the curtains and hoover Grin sshh

PickAChew · 26/11/2020 00:24

If you have carpet, an upright sebo. My x4 is brilliant.

If Yiu have hard floors, then a miele. I have the most basic c1 for downstairs and the suction is pretty magnificent.

The X4 Is brilliant, and where all the dust and muck goes I have no idea, the bags last forever. I don't know anyone who's bought a Sebo and then changed brand. I genuinely don't get the Shark love. The dust container is the size of a teacup, it's permanently dusty and dirty inside, that cloud of stuff when you empty it is yuk and the filter washing is revolting.
PickAChew · 26/11/2020 10:58

Yeah, the bags for both of my cleaners are huge and last forever. I normally change them because they smell before they're full.
